Women’s Culture!
Study
Tom Peters Company has a strong bias for action. We
focus our research and development effort on applications,
finding ways to apply the best management thinking about
excellence. Our current Women’s Culture Study
is an example.
Tom Peters has written much and said even more about
the relative attributes of men and women in the context
of business excellence. Tom’s position is unequivocal,
that “Women Rule!” and will increasingly
do so as we move forward in the 21st Century.
Tom Peters Company believes that the excellent companies
of the future will be those that can attract, engage,
leverage and retain the best talent available in their
sector. So, aside from the natural gender rivalries
and a lot of rhetoric, we were curious to know if there
are measurable characteristics about contemporary women
leaders and the context they create in the businesses
they run?
We have launched a research project into women owned
and women managed businesses using our R!CP culture
assessment tool. The first hundred cases have been completed,
and a characteristic pattern is emerging. It points
to these women leaders having an operating style that
generates alignment, builds consensus, is open and inclusive,
engenders collaborative working, and is upbeat!
The full findings from the first hundred cases are currently
under review with the project sponsors, KPMG.
